Software updates and upgrades
Licensed customers are able to keep their products up-to-date by getting updates and upgrades for the software in accordance with the following Update Policy. Please note the Policy may vary for different products and releases of the software. This page provides only the general principles while more details can be found in the End-User License Agreement supplied with the corresponding piece of software.

Free updates
SysDev Laboratories distributes upgrades and updates for the software using two main mechanisms:
Major software releases entail significant functional extensions and large-scale changes to the software, and are designated by the number to the left of the decimal point in the version of the product, for example, "UFS Explorer Professional Recovery 8.0".
Minor software releases involve revisions, error corrections and smaller enhancements to the software, and are designated by means of a change in the number to the right of the decimal point in the version of the product, for example, "UFS Explorer RAID Recovery 8.1".
UFS Explorer of version 7 and higher can be updated free of charge during the updates period of 360 days from the day of the purchase of a license with no restrictions in respect to minor or major software releases. The update is possible under the following conditions:
- the name of a newer software version coincides with the name of an older software version;
- a newer software version runs on the same operating system.
For example, "UFS Explorer Professional Recovery 8.10 for Windows" can be updated to " UFS Explorer Professional Recovery 8.11 for Windows".
The earlier software releases can be updated free of charge only within the major software version.
For example, "UFS Explorer RAID Recovery 5.0 for Linux" can be updated to " UFS Explorer RAID Recovery 5.25 for Linux".
Recovery Explorer can be updated free of charge during the updates period of 360 days from the day of the purchase of a license with no restrictions in respect to minor or major software releases. The update is possible under the following conditions:
- the name of a newer software version coincides with the name of an older software version;
- a newer software version runs on the same operating system.
For example, "Recovery Explorer Standard 8.10 for Windows" can be updated to "Recovery Explorer Standard 8.11 for Windows".
Raise Data Recovery can be updated free of charge during the updates period of 30 days from the day of the purchase of a license with no restrictions in respect to minor or major software releases. The update is possible only when the name of a license for an older software version coincides with the name of a license for a newer software version.
For example, "Raise Data Recovery 8.8 with a Windows Support License" can be updated to " Raise Data Recovery 8.9 with a Windows Support License".
Special offers
- the edition of the newer software corresponds to the edition of the older software;
- the newer software runs on the same operating system as the older version.
For example, "UFS Explorer RAID Recovery version 7.16 (for macOS)" can be upgraded to "UFS Explorer RAID Recovery version 8.11 (for macOS)".
The owners of licenses for UFS Explorer, Recovery Explorer and Raise Data Recovery may perform an upgrade to a more advanced UFS Explorer product at a discounted price.
If the license was purchased less than 30 days ago, the discount equals the price for the purchased product license.
If the license was purchased less than 6 months ago, the discount equals 85% of the price for the purchased product license.
If the license was purchased less than 9 months ago, the discount equals 75% of the price for the purchased product license.
If the license was purchased less than 12 months ago, the discount equals 65% of the price for the purchased product license.
If the license was purchased more than a year ago, the discount equals 50% of the price for the purchased product license.
If the license was purchased less than 30 days ago, the discount equals the price for the purchased product license.
For example, "UFS Explorer RAID Recovery version 8 (for Linux)" can be upgraded to "UFS Explorer Professional Recovery version 8 (for Linux") or "Recovery Explorer Standard version 8 (for Linux)" can be upgraded to "UFS Explorer Standard Recovery version 8 (for Linux)".
Upgrading contemporary software
After the expiry of the Free Updates Period stated in the End-User License Agreement for the software, the user can renew it by purchasing and activating a new license at a discount or pay a subscription fee to the seller.
It is also possible to upgrade the software to a more advanced edition for the same operating system at a discount.
Upgrades for legacy software
Legacy software can be updated upon request.
